Survival: how to join and FAQ

Which Minecraft edition do I need?

Use the edition named in your game or launcher. Java Edition runs on Windows, macOS and Linux; Bedrock Edition is available on Windows, mobile and consoles. Windows can run either edition, so your device alone does not tell us which you play. Match the edition and version accepted by the server.

How do I join a Java server?

Copy the listing's Java address. In Minecraft: Java Edition, open Multiplayer, then Add Server or Direct Connection. Paste the address into Server Address; keep a port suffix if one is shown. Save the entry and select Join Server. Copying here prepares the address; it does not connect your game.

How do I join a Bedrock server?

On supported Windows and mobile clients, open Play, then Servers and Add Server. Enter a name, the listing's Bedrock host in Server Address and its separately listed port in Port. Save or play using the available control. Console versions limit server access to featured servers and do not offer the same external Add Server flow.

Can Java and Bedrock friends play together?

Choose a listing that explicitly supports crossplay, then use the published connection for each edition. Two addresses alone do not establish that players share a world. Check the server's instructions for supported versions, account linking or other requirements; a Java address is not automatically a Bedrock connection.

How can I tell whether a survival server is close to vanilla?

Read the listing for changes to crafting, travel, combat and progression. Labels such as vanilla or semi-vanilla describe an approach, but each server defines them differently. Protection plugins can coexist with familiar gameplay, while shops, skills and custom items may change how you gather resources or build.

Will my base be safe from other players?

That depends on the server's rules and protection system. Some servers let you claim land, some enforce protection through staff, and others allow raiding. Find out how to protect a build, whether claims expire and what evidence staff need before you invest time in a large base.

Do I need a particular version or modpack?

Use a version the listing accepts and read its joining requirements. A modded server may need an exact pack release, loader and additional mods. A feature supplied by a server plugin may not need client mods. Any version means this directory has no version filter selected, not that every server accepts every Minecraft release.

What should I check if I cannot connect?

Confirm your edition, spelling of the host, listed port and accepted game version. Read whitelist or modpack instructions and check the listing's status timestamp; status can change after a check. Also check your Minecraft multiplayer permissions and the server's own support. Do not change security or platform restrictions to bypass an unavailable connection option.

Do I need a MinecraftServers.gg account to play?

You can browse, copy addresses, read these answers and use public creative tools without a website account. Minecraft multiplayer still has its own account, platform and server requirements. Saving favorites across sessions and using account features require sign-in here; a website account does not grant access to a whitelisted Minecraft server.

How do sponsored placements, votes and favorites work?

Eligible sponsored slots appear before the directory and are labeled. Sponsorship is placement, not a review or a promise of quality. Recommended results consider approved artwork and current two-week votes; All-time Votes is a separate lifetime count. Favorites save listings to your account. Reviews and reactions are separate community features, and none of these actions confirms a Minecraft join.
