Playing Creative

Creative servers focus on building with access to creative tools and materials. You may get a protected plot or join a shared building world, with permissions and performance limits shaping what you can make.

Before you choose a server

  • Compare plot dimensions, plot merging and any limits on saved builds.
  • See which editing tools are available and how collaborators receive access.
  • Read rules for redstone, entities and inactive plots before designing a large build.

How to join

Open a server page to check its supported editions, versions and entry requirements. Use the address shown for your edition.

Java Edition

  1. Copy the Java IP from the server page.
  2. In Minecraft, open Multiplayer, then Add Server.
  3. Paste it into Server Address, save and join.

Bedrock Edition

  1. Copy the Bedrock IP and note the separate port.
  2. On mobile or Windows, open Play, then Servers and Add Server.
  3. Enter the IP in Server Address and the listed port in Port, then save and join.

Console editions generally do not offer the same Add Server option. Crossplay is available only when the listing supports both editions. Follow any whitelist or modpack instructions on the server page.

Common questions

Can friends help build on my creative plot?

Plot servers often let you add helpers, but temporary access and permanent membership may grant different permissions. Check who can break blocks, use containers or invite more builders. On shared worlds, protection may work differently, so agree on the project area and access rules before you begin.

Can I download a build when I finish it?

Some servers offer schematic or world exports, while others do not provide a download option. Check the available tools and any size limits before starting a project you want to keep elsewhere. You should also ask how long inactive plots remain available and whether a reset affects saved builds.
